Iggulden put so much time and care into cultivating Genghis Khan and his brothers as the empire grew, but this story of what comes after felt rushed in much the same way the last season of Game of Thrones did. For that reason, I have to knock this one down a star. Too much happened too quickly and a LOT of major characters died.

Unceasingly, Iggulden enthralls the mind, ampliflies the bad ass and increases the world’s or at least my problem with procrastination with his second book in the Genghis series, Lords of the Bow. I literally can never put his books down. Aside from the captivating writing and descriptions, this series is an excellent way to learn the Mongol tribes’ and the Chin dynasty’s histories.
